Using SAP CAR in multi-client environment

Hi!

Would you please clarify if it's possible to use different clients in single SAP CAR installation independently? Each client should have its own Master ERP system, use it as source for data replication and send sales data to that system.

Regards, Evgeniy.

Hi!

As for now, I guess that we can use master data from different systems and process sales data using multi-ECC option. But the same client still should be used in SAP CAR itself since BW part of SAP CAR installation is single-client by default.

For better understanding our requirement: we have separate client (say, 300) in our S/4Hana QAS system, used for Integration testing, while the current settings of our QAS landscape link SAP CAR client 200 to S/4Hana client 200 (SLT is up and running). We'd like to have also the separate client (300) additionally in SAP CAR QAS system.

Using SLT for replicating the master data allows us to have the data for all clients of source S/4Hana system in SAP CAR system. But as I could understand from SAP help, it offers to use MECC (multiple ECC) support option, where we are able to process data belonging to different logical systems, staying technically in the same SAP CAR client.

And that's not the way we would like it to done. We expected to have the same multi-client environment as S/4Hana system provides.

Hello Evgeniy,

I'm wondering the same as the situation you describe. Have you been able to move forward with this approach and do you have any feedback to share?

Thank you!

Best regards,

Marco

Hi Evgeniy,

Even though its technically feasible as mentioned by Herve , I see few challenges around implementation(assuming the systems involved are SAP ECC and SAP S4HANA from a master data perspective).

1.You would need SLT up and running to feed master data from source system - ECC and (or S4HANA

2.You would end up storing the same set of inbound sales data from stores(POS/Online) in CAR in 2 different clients which may have an impact on sizing(HANA DB etc)

3.Your middleware should be smart enough to send the same set of sales data to different clients within CAR for ease of tracking/reconciliation etc

4.If you are planning to send aggregated sales/payment data to both ECC and S4HANA, any target system that consumes data from both these sources(for example of End of day billing extract in BW), then they need to segregate the data load.

5.In case of intraday sales data (if BW in scope) can they use multiple sources of data as they may need to use this against the end of day sales billing for reporting purposes(in which case it can be from ECC or S4H)

6.Not sure about any 3rd party systems in your current landscape that would take data from both ECC/S4H at the same time - what impacts they may have?

Thanks,
Aram.

Hi Evgeniy

Yes, it is possible to user multiple instance of ECC/S/4HANA to one CAR system
