You are about to start deployment project of your new SAP S/4HANA Cloud solution and you need help to plan the activities for your team. SAP Activate is here to help you prepare and execute the entire journey to SAP S/4HANA Cloud and will also support you after the initial go-live in adoption of innovations.

SAP designed SAP Activate, the innovation as a service, to help project teams plan and execute their deployment project most efficiently. SAP Activate gives you access to ready-to-run digitized business processes, guided configuration tools, and modern deployment methodology. The purpose of this blog is to help you leverage the SAP Activate in your SAP S/4HANA Cloud deployment.

SAP Activate structures deployment in multiple phases to keep you in control of your systems.

  • Discover - Identify the business value and benefits, define the adoption strategy and roadmap.

  • Prepare – Start the project, finalize plans, enable your teams, and access system with best practice processes.

  • Explore – Drive adoption of SAP standard with a Fit-to-Standard approach, and capture delta requirements to implement your differentiating business practices.

  • Realize - Run agile sprints to configure, build and test an integrated environment, load data, and start enabling business users.

  • Deploy - Set up production system, confirm business readiness, and switch business operations to the new system.

  • Run – Drive efficient adoption of the new solution across the business, meet evolving business needs with SAP and innovations you integrate and extend on the platform.

Want to learn more about what happens in each phase, take a look at the phase level detailed blogs we have published last year around the introduction of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud: Implementation with SAP Activate e-book from SAP-PRESS.

I have read the presentation document, and it is very informative, rich, clear, compact, easy, and friendly way to present information.  In particular, I like Fit-to-standard pages 41-43, Realize page 52, Agile page 54.  Very good portal association links.  To me, Discovery phase is missing.  Very important (but might not be the purpose of the document).

We are just starting our Implementation proyect On-Premise.  Is there a version for On-Premise?

Still, the information is very good.  Congratulations for making our life easier.

Yes, there is SAP Activate for on-premise solutions. You can find it inside the SAP Roadmap Viewer application here - https://go.support.sap.com/roadmapviewer/

Hello Jan ,

This is really a great article for a starter who wants to now work with S4 HANA cloud & has experience in On premise system.

Do you have a comparison list on what is possible on S4 HANA on premise and not possible on S4 HANA cloud?

Regards,

Hello Ashish,

the S/4HANA OP solution provides full configuration capabilities using the Implementation Guide (IMG) that is quite familiar to consultants and expert users of SAP software.

Hope this helps.

Sure - look for Feature Scope Description on help.sap.com for SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Cloud. I also recommend you to check the product roadmaps for each solution at SAP.com/roadmaps.

Hello Jan

Thanks for this amazing article,

actually we just went live with our S/4 Project, I have a question for you.

during the "hypercare" period we were sending requests to PRD with Change Management due to our business pace & not to stop our operation.

can you advise if this is correct or wrong?

Thanks,

Hi Ramzy,

it is normal to have change requests and transports coming to production system during hypercare. Utilizing the Change Request Management in SAP Solution Manager and ensuring that all transported objects are tested is the way to go. You don't want to have any features and fixes coming through until they are thoroughly tested in Test or Pre-production environment.

Hi Jan,

we already have STMS & all stuff was tested on DEV, QAS & then moved to PRD.

the issue is that we didn't apply Change Management Request during the hypercare period.

Thanks,
