GR: Update from release 1909 (02) to release 2021 (01) in one go

Hello GR experts,

my customer originally installed GR 1809 and is now on 1909 (02). The new reporting logic was activated retroactively for all used periods.

Now my customer wants to go from 1909 (02) to 2021 (01) in one go. Is this possible? Do we have to consider anything?

From 1909 to 2020, some fundamental changes have been made to the master data (removal of consolidation ledger, cons unit master data etc.). Therefore, I am not sure whether we can go directly from 1909 (02) to 2021 (01).

thank you for this hint! We use only one ledger for all versions. So this should not be a problem.

Do you know how the master data migration is triggered? And is it also triggered when you go directly to 2021?

I found the following information: (slide 88)

For positions there was likewise such a change in master data. At least when I compare my 2020 with the 1909 of the customer.

I would check note 2901554 (Consulting note to correct Version / Ledger combinations) first to make sure you don't have any inconsistencies. But them, if the Product Availability Matrix shows that you can go from 1909.002 to 2021.01 in one go, I think it should be "supported". Whether you need additional notes or customer messages to resolve an inconsistencies in testing, I'm not sure, but I would expect to get support for those issues.
