Production order with multiple processes

Hello all,

I have a finished good that can be made in one of two methods.

1. The frame and the flaps are both confirmed as WIP and then booked to the production order. In this method we have confirmation of both WIP parts being made and consuming raw materials. This produces no COGI.

2. The sub-components consist of a frame that is made on one machine and the flaps made on another machine. The machine that makes the flaps is tied to an assembly station that CAN automatically have the flaps transferred to it. In this method, only the frames are ever confirmed as WIP and the flaps have no consumption for the raw material or even a record of being produced. This creates a COGI for the flaps that have never been "produced".

The issue that we are facing is that we can start in the Automatic mode with the transfers, but if something happens, we will have to run in manual. I can change the BOM and routing to be for the automatic mode of operation, but how can we handle when the machine breaks down and the other process has to happen?
