#COE#DE01 Copying an existing project from the old billing system to new billing system (J11/4E9)

Good Afternoon Colleagues

Would appreciate some guidance in the following matter

In terms of scope item 4E9 the new billing solution, the Use Project Billing (New) button on the customer project (plan/create) defaults to YES. We migrated to the new billing solution some time ago. Our dilemma at the moment is we are finding users copying projects from the old billing solution and not changing the Use Project Billing (New) to YES before saving the project, to follow the new billing process, and the project is opened in the old solution. i.e. All projects new or copied must follow the new billing solution

We have tried to deactivate/hide the Use Project Billing button, but unfortunately, this does not solve the issue. We are at a point where we cannot wait till the old solution is switched off by SAP. How can we create a default that all copied projects default to the new billing solution whether they were copied from the new or old solution?

Hi Theresa,

In Copy Project, basic information from the project header will be copied to new project.
This is documented in help document: Copy Project
Hence, iIt is expected behavior:
- to get "Use Project Billing (New)" as No when copying from old project billing project
- to get "Use Project Billing (New)" as Yes when copying from new project billing project.

I don't find an option to set this field as Yes by default when copying.
But you could use BADI "Custom Checks on Project Save" to throw an error message when this field is set to No.
