ETO in Advanced Variant Configuration with changing customer requirements

Hi Experts,

Can someone please share how the standard SAP ETO flow is for Advanced Variant Configuration? We have a scenario where lets say our client manufactures batteries of 3W , 4W only however the customer orders for a battery of 10W- what will be possible options/methods to fulfil this requirement? Any best practices or any insights to handle this kind of a scenario? How will the engineering team respond or plan?

One of the possible options might be to change the class/characteristic master data to include an additional option of 10W but this will not be a practical solution as for every new requirement/order we cannot be changing characteristics values each time. Also, changing VC master data frequently is also not advisable.

Thus, someone can please share some insights/thoughts on how can this be achieved?

Thanks for your response - where exactly is the ETO process defined in the link? Also can you please share some insights into how a new requirement as detailed in my question above can be handled?
