importing ñ to item master

I am trying to import Spanish accents in the description field of Item Master Data.

The text file shows data correctly. When I import I don't get any errors but the data is encoded.

Hi rashantha,

Can you please share what value you have in the import template file?

Also, what value is saved by the system and what is your expectations from the system?

Kind regards,

Looks like the encoding was set to UTF-8.

In order to import to SAP what should we set the encoding to?

Hi Rashantha,

It is probably due to the encoding of the file. You can have look at this form post for an explanation.

You can use a text editor like Notepad++ or PSPad. Both have an 'Encoding' menu that will show you the encoding of you file.

Johan

Hi Rashantha,

Using Notepad++:

  1. Make a backup of the file. "Keep it secret, keep it safe" 😉
  2. Open the file. There should be a point in front of the UTF-8 option in the Encoding menu.
  3. Use the Convert to ANSI option (1 in the screenshot), and save the file.
  4. Test the import
  5. If it did not work, you can try changing it to Windows-1252 (2 in the screenshot)
  6. Test the import

Regards,

Johan
