Transaction variants still a valid option in S/4hana on prem

sorry for the on premise question for the lack of a suitable forum, could you please help me with this question..

Is transaction variant(SHD0) still a valid option to consider in S/4hana on premise? or screen persona is a recommendation to enhance gui transactions?

Your question really depends on what you want to achieve and what you would like to use (GUI vs. Fiori).

However if GUI, then transaction can be use, as well as screen personas, but if Fiori you can also use screen personas or use the Fiori in-app adaptations.
