This blog showcases the navigation to specific section/block/portlet in People Profile with a click on custom tile at home page.

Below are the steps-

  1. in Manage Data, search for EmployeeProfilePageConfig, select PP3Page-

2. Copy the section code to update in custom tile URL-

3. Navigate to 'Manage Home Page' to create a custom tile-

3.1. Custom tile to be named-

3.2. Type, Title, Subtitle and icon to be updated accordingly-

3.3. Select Target as URL

Update the URL - /xi/ui/peopleprofile/pages/index.xhtml?#section/section12806 (section12806 being updated from step 1)

3.4. Update Assignments if required-

4. Click on the custom tile, and it would redirect to the mentioned section-

Hope this helps!

Great! Good stuff, thanks!

How does it work for blocks then?

e.g. /xi/ui/peopleprofile/pages/index.xhtml?#block/block123 does not seem to work?

Hello driesfranssens ,

Thank you!

I suggest use block only when 'sub-section' is to be displayed.

the link remains the same but section number gets replaced with block number.

below is an example-

/xi/ui/peopleprofile/pages/index.xhtml?#section/block<number>

Hope this helps.

Great blogpost Jyotika!

I am unable to get the section number since when I click on PP3Page data, system gives an application error. Any idea regarding this?

Hi,

I was having the same issue as you, what I did is go to mana people profile and each portlet tells you the block id.

Hope it helps!

Check it in "Manage Data" --> EmployeeProfilePageConfig: PP3Page (PP3Page)

There you see all sections and blocks!

Hello 🙂 could you please advise how to go directly to a Custom UI (ie manage data to update a generic object)?

Hello ctomlinson610 , Can you please elaborate more on the requirement please?

What is the scenario?

Also, custom UI will be in people profile, which can be viewed by employees as well and manage data will be back-end, for which permission is mostly not given to employees.

Thanks for the article Jyo.

I have a custom background section in one of the portlets (My Details). After configuring the tile, the My Details page loads up but the cursor does not jump to this custom section at the bottom of the screen.

Ideas?

Thanks

Figure it out. It is a block and I followed your instructions above to get the block number.

Thanks.

Hello Jyotika,

That is very helpful is there any way to do the same with the profile photos? Since it is in the employee profile, I am not confident about this possibility and I couldn’t find anything

Hello Giorgio,

Thank you for your feedback.

I did not clearly understand the requirement.

Do you wish, the click on custom tile, to land on employee's profile? If yes, then when we click on 'My Profile' tile or Home--My Employee File, we land on the starting of People Profile anyway 🙂

Please remember, with custom on tile, we are 'navigating' to the mentioned section. That means, the section is 'not' popping up on the screen 🙂

Hope this helps.

Hi Jyotika,

My wish would be to land on the "Edit Profile Picture" popup so I can add some text as subtitle as disclaimer. Otherwise, as you said there is already the quick action to "my profile" and from there change the picture. However, have it as custom card on the home page could encourage employees to upload it!

Hello Jyotika!

Thank you for the great article.

I followed your guidelines and it works very well. Just a prefix "/sf/" had to be added to the link.

Have you also managed to create a link to the SUBsection?

Thank you very much.

Frank
