Hide the Year on 'Date Of Birth' field in SuccessFactors/Employee Central

Hi Team,

We would like to hide the Year on 'Date Of Birth' field in biographical information for Manager role in Employee Central. Due to technical limitation as this is a date field , we are unable to show only day and month using a business rule. Did anyone come across this requirement and how it was handled through workaround solution (other than adding a custom field)?. Please let us know.

In this case I would only think of a completely custom solution where you send the month and day of the employee's birthday to another field and give managers the permission to see it. On the other hand you remove the permission to view the standard field.

Thanks Karen. We tried with custom field on same Biographical info. As no RBP at field level for this portlet, we had to create a rule to set the visibility (hide standard field) with condition to validate whether login user is a manager for an employee. To behave the same for indirect reports, need to have a condition for each level up in reporting hierarchy. This is a challenge that we are unsure about the number of levels as it may grow in future. The other option is to use other non effective dated portlet for custom field, and hide the bio graphical info portlet itself for Managers, but we are looking for simple and less maintenance solution with managers to see other fields on biographical information.

Correct, rameshnallathambi. As of now the mask field option is available, but for date of birth, the manager would still be able to click 'show' to see the info. Business rules would be too much for the system, so removing the Biographical Info Permission would be the way, but I understand that they still want to see other data in there, so there will be a need of a compromise from their side to decide what they can have an lose.

Dear rameshnallathambi,

I never saw this requirement to hide the year from the birthday, but some customers asks to hide this field completely and we normally recommend them to enable the Birthday/Work Anniversary tile, where will remind them 5 days before the birthday/work anniversary. Take a look into the below KBA explaining how this tile behaves and hopefully this can be a workaround for you.

Actually, this tile on legacy home page appears when birthday is within next 5 days and appears till day of birthdate. In latest home page, it appears on 1st day of the month and on the day of birthday for Managers to view their team member's birthday. Our requirement is to show 'day and month' always for managers, so they can see it as and when needed. Do we have any options?. Please let us know.
