Issues with Deceased status in EC & POC

Hi,

We have had EC and position management for several years and never had these issues with our deceased employees until about a month ago. The picklist employee-status includes a Deceased status. I do not think this is a unique set up. However, in the last month (so not release related) in Production we are facing issues and one resolution causes another issue. Conflicting KB articles with conflicting resolutions. KB article 3410318 - Unable to search inactive employees with custom employee status - Employee Central  https://me.sap.com/notes/3410318/E and KB article 3253287 - The employee is inactive with employee status in Job information as 'Deceased', but Position Org Chart is filled  https://me.sap.com/notes/3253287/E

Details on employee-status picklist non-unique external code:

If non-unique code = T

Then the POC does not show the deceased employee. Good.

But then I cannot proxy or search for some employees. Not good.

If non-unique code = T1 (or any other unique value)

Then the POC shows the deceased employee as in the position. Not good.

I can proxy and search for all employees. Good.

It has been horrible experience with SAP Support. I have two open cases and they keep saying it's not me, open a case with them, between EC team and Platform team. I have escalated one of the tickets today. It has been a month. This is just cruel. To be able to see a deceased employee (a friend to some employees) on the Position Org Chart or the regular Org Chart depending on which way I flip the non-unique external code, is horrible. I cannot fix this and have been asking for help from SAP Support and there does not seem to be any resolution. 

Is anyone else facing this?
