Do not see currently that standard property tree is able to handle food related regulations and placeholder to put datas . Regulations such as FDA and nodes related to allergens , nutrients , animal origin and many more are missing .How are food industries handling such regulations in property tree .
Are we suppose to modify standard tree if we need extra nodes and customize all regulations as per the need ? Its surprise to see such things are not provided by content and standard package from sap .

Hi Krishna,
SAP has separate solutions for managing Food related information like Nutrition, Nutrient calculation etc.:
The later one is build with the specification database underneath and comes with an own set of properties. (See here Information Systems - Recipe Management (PLM-RM) - SAP Library)
Recipe Development is the newer solution and web based.
Maybe these solutions - or parts of it - are better fitting for your needs. For Example with different
specification categories from PLM-RM:
Kind Regards
Mark
P.s.: As mentioned by others: Do NOT change the standard tree. Create your own as copy of the standard tree and add additional properties as needed.

Thank you all for valuable informations .I have seen lots of companies modifying and customizing standard property tree to accomodate new needs . But creating new property makes sense to me but if we have to develop some new rule .Is it because the new can read and write values from only one property tree ? As after putting datas I might have to do some calculation logic through customize rule also .
Dear Krishna
This is the story in a "nutshell".
1.) the set up and look and feel of STANDARD tree is done by SAP including information as of:
a.) chemical industry
b.) content providers
c.) and others
The tree is updated roughly at least once a year (may be twice). The use of "STANDARD" tree is "Best practise" all over. The Tree "Obsolete" combines properties which have been used in teh past as part of "STANDARD" tree but discussion has shown that these properties are not needed any more.
If you have the need to create new value assignment types the "Best Practise" is to define a tree as "Z_*" with whatever content you like
IF you buy content you should not change "STANDARD" tree.
For "Z_" Tree you can generate "comany specific" value assignment types. It is quite clear. there will be no data provider out there (the company as such must take care); no rule set ... and whatsoever other content
In most cases these new "properties" can not be used easily in subsequent processes (but you must take care if needed by your self)
PLease check e.g. (and to certain extent as well: ))
The use and set up of an EHS data model is discussed as well in this thread:
Recommand std EHS substance structure, properti... | SCN
C.B.
PS: in context of: .Is it because the new can read and write values from only one property tree ?
The answer is: the "rule sets" are not depending on the"property tree" but the properties as such (and data maintained therein); the tree is not "steering" element.
E.g. you can have "Density" in Standard tree and Density in "Z_" Tree. If calculation is ruinnign using a rule it will "just" run as on "lower" level the rule is responsible to look for: which data to read, and which data to write
Hi Krishna,
Never ever change the standard tree! The next official update of the standard tree will render it unusable! If you need additional properties feel free to create them but they must not be added to the standard tree. Crteate your own tree instead.
Regarding these food properties, there may be an industry solution or extension for the food industry which includes these classes. If not, you will have to create them manually.

Dear Krishna
content provider normally provide content for topics as:
"allergens , nutrients , animal origin"
So just check "mapping proposal" of content provider.
To make it sure. in property tree "STANDARD" you can manage topics as:
"food" /"feed" / "pharma" etc.

Hi KG,
Standard Property tree will cover some 420 properties of substance, but it doesn't mean that it will cover all the industries.
Yes you have to customize the new property tree with customize classes & characteristics.Regulations also you need to customize.
Thanks
Satya
