Applying notes without SAP Router/Support Backbone connection

As of the January 8, 2020 Support Backbone changes, how can we continue to apply notes manually without an active SAP Router connection? We can download the digitally signed note from SAP Marketplace, and then upload it into SNOTE without an issue. But when we attempt to actually apply it, the system gives RFC Connection failure to SAP-SUPPORT_PORTAL (because there is no SAP Router/connection to SAP Support).

Previously, we could apply notes in this method without being stopped by an RFC error like this.

Hi David - I recommend reviewing SAP Note https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2874259 that gives a lot of work arounds, depending on your release of Solution Manager and Netweaver.

Hi david_ingersoll,

The reason why its showing SAP-SUPPORT_PORTAL, is that your setting is set to use HTTP Protocol option for Note download instead of old RFC process. This option can be checked via report(SE38) --> RCWB_SNOTE_DWNLD_PROC_CONFIG.

So, basically, if you are on NW7.0x, then you can use the old RFC method, i mean SAPOSS rfc, just need to get a Technical S-User from servicemarketplace. So, if you have downloaded & uploaded a note, whether "RFC" process or "HTTP Protocol", the check is definitely there, but you can click the Tick button to skip it.

In case you are on like NW 7.4x, 7.5x, then its "HTTP Protocol" mandatory for you. So, my questions to help you further,

NW version with SP(SAP_BASIS version)?

SPAM version?

Which Note implementing?

SAP Note 2865380 about SAP Digitally signed Notes manal upload when system is not setup for Digital Snote download directly to your SAP system. However in some notes you will find that the manual download button is not available in servicemarketplace, don't be shocked, you can configure your system for Digital Snote download & a active SAProuter install as SAProuter(remember to install on a 64-bit OS) is a free product & also SAProuter connection support you will get from SAP free of cost even there is no SAP support for your other SAP systems in your organisation

Thanks,

Kaushik

Was able to adjust the note download procedure to try and use RFC instead of HTTPS. This way when we apply the note, we only get the pop up that RFC connection failed.

Thank you for the quick replies. We are attempting to manually apply notes on an S/4 system on SAP_BASIS 7.54. It is enabled for digital notes. I followed note 2874259 and also 2865380. We can download the SAR file, and upload it into SNOTE without any problem. When we click the execute/apply button, we get the red RFC error as it want to connect to SAP-SUPPORT_PORTAL (which is not active/setup due to no SAP Router connectivity). Why is it trying to connect to the RFC when manually applying the note in SNOTE and is there a way to configure this to not happen?

We do not have an active OSS connection either for security reasons and we are still able to. The message for us is just a warning we are able to click through. We are on ECC 6 EHp8 and basis 7.53
