2022 VSaaS Upgrade and Patch Schedule

Sany-Said

Hi Everyone,

Below is the currently planned 2022 Upgrade and Planned Patches schedule for Validated SaaS Learning environments. As mentioned, the dates represent the evening of when activities are planned to start, but the full maintenance window for each of your respective environments based on data center location will be communicated via official communication channels.

August 2022 Updates:

  • The changed dates of the 2H 2022 release are not anticipated to impact the VSaas release dates at this time and the change in the SaaS schedule actually provides us a longer stabilization period for VSaaS.

***Please note slight update in the patch number for the November/December patch from 28 to 29, as that will be the latest available patch at that time***

Hi,

Where can I find scope (included features) for this validated release? Will it include features included in the regular 1H2022 release as well?

Thanks,

Ran

Hi,

I would also like to get the relevant features to be included in the release. Since it seems a shorter timeline that previous years we would like to start analyzing the impacts. Thanks

The release notes are all available in the What's New Viewer.  Customers can filter on 2H2021 and 1H2022 learning  releases to see the full consolidated list of all innovations that are a part of this annual upgrade. For simplicity I've copied the link here

Hi Raju,

no in the production we will get b2205p20, which we can test from Sep/7 in SBX and Sep/16 in Stage (See Sany's top post with timeline pictures). Here mostly BugFixes are included and no or few new features.

Kind regards

Marcus

Hi @sany said

is the release time line fix? I see here a problem with the cloud covergenced (the datacenter migration DC12).

Here the preview (SBX / Stage) instances are migrated on Oct/04 and prod Oct/29.

We are not sure to identify the cause of issues in preview (release vs migration) if an issue occurs.

We have also effort to validate the dc migration in the same time frame with the release.

Kind regards

Marcus

Hi @Marcus Knappe , the dates are set, but may shift in the future for various needs. There should be no functional impact associated with the DC migration, but we can certainly review and address any concerns you might have.

I understand there was a change in the dates for the regular release. Will the validated SAAS schedule have any impact too? Please advise.

Yes, we really need to know ASAP if the VSAAS dates have change, too.

@Jesica and @meg hart this question was also asked in Second Half (2H) 2022 Release Timeline Update - Page 2 - Welcome to the SAP SuccessFactors Community... and answered with the following (which has now been added to the Sany's original post at the top of this page for future reference):

there are no anticipated changes to the VSaaS schedule at this time and the change in the SaaS schedule actually provides us a longer stabilization period for VSaaS, which is positive.

Is October 21 the date that the new Home page is pushed out to vSaaS customers?

The reimagined home page was enabled in our preview environment.  I hope they don't mistakenly make this universal for vSaaS customers the same as regular customers on 9/15/2022.  I am still waiting on confirmation as to when vSaaS customers must implement the new home page as well.  I hope Sany can advise ASAP.

Thanks,

May

Latest update:  Our preview environment was mistakenly upgraded with the reimagined home page.  Does anyone know how to remove the Reminder tile?  It's blank and I'm not sure where this is getting pulled from but it looks to be something I can add to but don't know where to do this either.  I do like the feature that enables manager to email their staff to remind them to complete the trainings that is past due or upcoming.

Thanks,

May

@may thang in Bizx > Upgrade center > recently completed upgrades > Learning assignments and Learning Approval upgrades should show there if the upgrades were run and an UNDO button should be clickable next to them if the upgrade was completed less than 30 days ago.

If they are not listed there it means the upgrades were not run.

If the UNDO button is greyed out then this means the upgrades were completed more than 30 days ago. This can be reactivated via a support ticket.

I am not sure what you mean by a "blank reminder tile", maybe you could please share a screenshot?

I asked support if the Reminders and Favorites tiles could be removed from the Home page as they are, as far as I can tell, useless for Learning only customers. Unfortunately, they cannot be removed.

Has anyone found the Learning vSaaS Release Details similar to last year where we can download a pdf version?  I clicked on Learning vSaaS Release Details and its not updated to include 1H2022.  This is the link to last year's that has through 1H2021 only.

https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_SUCCESSFACTORS_RELEASE_INFORMATION/ec2666160e154a63bbc7954084afb8d6/80...

The release details are in the What's New Viewer, you can access the information from the SAP SuccessFactors Release Information page: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_SUCCESSFACTORS_RELEASE_INFORMATION

Here's a quick link directly to the PDF that has the full details by module: https://help.sap.com/doc/2c2bf2f1c6444167956603314591ba42/cloud/en-US/Whats_New_en-US.pdf

From the table view, you can filter the information and then export a PDF or table of the summary. This link is pre-filtered to include Learning Module entries for versions 2H 2021 and 1H 2022, you can adjust the filters as needed: https://help.sap.com/doc/62fddbd651204629b46bbccbabf886ba/cloud/en-US/159bda31b711402c884ae568644684...

I got the table view one.  I went to the Release page and clicked on vSaaS release and that still only shows 1H2021 and is not updated to show 2H2021 and 1H2022 which is what I was looking for.  As for the PDF sent, that is the full release for everything.  I guess I can just look at the Learning section but why is the vSaaS release not updated like last year?

Hi May thang,

If you got VSaaS release notes for 1H 2022, please share the pdf/csv file.

Please see KristaW post as she provided link to the table view which is what I found and the PDF file which contains release of all modules and not just learning and is not specific to vSaaS.

Hello,

I am reviewing all of the release notes from 2H2021 and 1H2022 through b2205p18 which is what's available now but I cannot file in the release notes the details to replicate these issues similar to the patches.  Has anyone found this.  These are available for 1H2021.  For example:

https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_SUCCESSFACTORS_RELEASE_INFORMATION/c5e76ac3716144299de6195d89544c52/5c...

Thanks,

May

@may thang, I see that the 1H2022 Patch release notes "Learning Read Me Notes" PDF was updated overnight to include replication steps for many of the 1H2022 patches up through b2005p19!

Woo hoo!

@sany said and @Marine, I am reviewing the 1H2022 Patches for b2205p6 - p19, and I have found a patch that I do not understand.

In b2205p9, PTCH-38747 / LRN-131942 states that it Fixes an issue where the Learning URL update doesn't reflect in the system when triggered from the LPA. And then PTCH-38750 / LRN-132681 states that it Fixes an error occurring in newly provisioned stand-alone tenants where LPA is causing an error during the integration confirmation process.

What does LPA stand for?

I cannot find any additional information in any of the 1H2022 patch documentation, neither in the table or the PDF.  And I realize that the issue affecting newly provisioned stand-alone tenants won't impact us, but I don't have enough information to evaluate the risk or impact of a Learning URL not getting updated.

Can you provide some clarity as to what LPA stands for in this context?

I found the information about the patches at this location:

https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_SUCCESSFACTORS_RELEASE_INFORMATION/c5e76ac3716144299de6195d89544c52/b4...

Thanks,

Mary Katherine

Hello @mary katherine johnson thank you for your question.

LPA stands for LMS Provisioning App and is an internal configuration repository.

This issue talks about setting up the integration configuration between a Successfactors Learning instance and a Successfactors Platfrom instances.

Some values need to be populated in LMS admin > System Congifuration > Configuration > Bizx and others in Provisioning or LPA for NEW instances. If something goes wrong during the configuration process then the integration does not work and end users would not be able to access Learning/Learning admin from Bizx.

As you rightly pointed out this issue impacted new instances only so if you are not implementing and integrating new SuccessFactors Learning instances at this time, this patch is not relevant for your validation process.

Kind regards,

Marine

Hi Everyone, quick update that patch 21 (not 20) was applied to your Sandbox tenants overnight, and that this is the right target patch as officially communicated that will be applied to Preview and Production environments as well.  This patch had several fixes we wanted to ensure you received and the availability schedule aligned well to deliver to you the latest patch available.  The patch notes are also current to 2205p21.

Where can I find p21 release notes, or is it already listed (if I filter by Product=Learning and Module=Learning, see screenshot)?

The patches are documented in the Learning Readme Notes, you'll find a link from the release information page. Here is a direct link to the 1H 2022 section of the notes:https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_SUCCESSFACTORS_RELEASE_INFORMATION/c5e76ac3716144299de6195d89544c52/b4...

@KristaW and @sany said, I looked at the Learning Read Me Notes in the 1H2022 section of the RELEASE INFORMATION page, and I see a new issue from patch 21 that says "Fixes an issue with the Item Connector where an item revision wasn't inserted into all curricula", PTCH-39138 / LRN-135536. Where can I find more information about this issue, including perhaps replication steps?

As of 9/9, the Learning Read Me Notes and the 1H2022 section do not provide any information on the patch 21 issues beyond the one sentence description.

Thank you,
Mary Katherine

We published the patch release notes inclusive of patch 21 and the replication steps inclusive of patch 19. We are finalizing the replication steps for the patch 21 tickets and will publish them this week. I will post a message here when they are published.

Hello,

Is there a way to get our hands on the b2205 Workbooks?
Or do we always need to go to the "Patners".

Thanks

@Ibrosseau could you please clarify which workbooks you are looking for?

I'm looking for the Config Learning Workbook for version b2205, we are still working with the b1705 version which is really outdated.

Thanks for your concern.
