Michael_Winter

This weekend our EC system received a new patch b2311.20231018075515. The LMS is an vaildated one and still on patch b2305.19

After the upgrade our taining library disappears: there is only a blank screen javascriptvoid(0)

Is anyone facing the same problem?

Best regards

Michael

Yes. Got the message from SAP Support " The reported behavior is already being reviewed and I'll provide you with an update by the end of the day."

Ikram - any update as of the end of the day?  I could not get through to anyone on Expert Chat - it just timed out.  Booking an expert is going out to Thursday.

This workaround didn't work for us, we have enableCourseHomeBlended=false

Workaround did not work for me either.

The workaround did not work for me. I also checked my Staging instance, and the same issue is happening there. Staging is a Validated instance. I hope that this upcoming upgrade into Production instance does not have the same issue.

Facing the same issue for our Validated Learning. We also raised a ticket to SAP with High priority since for us it's not efficient as workaround to revert back the configuration to Legacy item details from the new Course Home.

Same from our end, the workaround is not sufficient.

Same for us (library issue) but also items launch do not display- instead the grey screen does. We could disable new course home after the upgrade this weekend but the library issue would still persist (if not fixed before then).

I spoke to an Expert Chat on Monday, and they acknowledged the issue and said Engineering is working on it.  The workaround of disabling the Course Home Blended feature allowed us to revert back to the legacy Item Details and legacy course launching experience, but the legacy Library Search is still broken (regardless of what the KBA says).   https://me.sap.com/notes/3392365

No update yet from our processor, but I have informed them that having the validated LMS go live this weekend with this issue in place is a big deal, particularly because the majority of the changes in the release are related to Course Home. And going live in Prod without the release being validated is a big no no for us who are validated LMS!

Note that we have Horizon theme enabled in our Dev and Stage tenants.

EDITED TO ADD:  A poster to the main Human Experience Management Q&A group reported that they "can no longer access the "My Classes" and "My Team" tabs from the Learning landing page like we can currently in PROD."  In our environment with Course Home turned off, I can access the "My Team" tab, but I cannot access the "My Classes" tab.  This will be a huge deal for us because we have a large number of instructors who record credit for ad hoc trainings using the Authorized to Teach feature!

I was requested to record a video for my ticket, that shows that enableCourseHomeBlended=false and the issue occurs in the System.

We have also Horizon acitve.

I hope we will not facing this issue due to a b2305 HXM in prod till Nov 17th instead of the b2311 HXM in Preview.

@Sany-Said@Marine, Any update on getting the issue fixed where we have to disable Course Home to be able to see the item details and launch content?  Even with Course Home disabled, we still cannot search the Library, and the entire My Classes tab fails to render.  HELP?  The vLMS upgrade goes live tomorrow night!

Hello everyone,

On our ticket SAP consultant mentioned that the cause of this issue is the new theme Horizon which was triggered active automatically for our validated solution and it shouldn't. In our case they ran a script for our Preview instance to inactivate the theme and now it seems that all our issues with Learning are solved.

They said that after TalentShare release they will run the same script to inactivate the theme in PROD too so we can avoid this scenario from these past days. We requested more info about their approach on this.

I hope our SAP experts from here will also provide us more details about SAP approach on Production release and how they will make sure we will not be impacted.

I also opened a ticket. SAP support said we didn't have to worry about the issue impacting PROD, but provided no further details. Are we to be excluded from universal push to Horizon theming update? What is the timeline then for VSaaS LMS customers? We were planning end-user communications on the Horizon update, but now not sure how to proceed.

I would also appreciate SAP expert input on this issue!

Thanks

@stephmccue, there are two separate (but somewhat related) questions here. First, related to the Course Home issue resulting from the 2H2023 release being applied to our preview BizX environments on Oct 20 that prevented us from testing Course Home features in LMS, that issue did not affect our vSaaS LMS Prod environment after the Oct 27 vLMS upgrade because the 2H2023 release was not installed in our Prod BizX environments yet. Fortunately, they fixed that issue in our preview environments on Oct 30.

However, regarding the universal push to Horizon theming update for vSaaS LMS customers. It is my understanding that, because we had Horizon disabled in Prod as of October 18, my company has been added to the "exception list" who will be excluded from the Horizon theming update in Prod when 2H2023 is released on November 17. I have no further information as to when the Horizon theme will be updated in our Prod environment, but the original notification from SAP said "until the 2024 release cycle".

Hope this helps,
Mary Katherine

This does help, thank you! I attended the Learning Q&A call yesterday and asked about the Horizon theme timeline for validated customers. SAP referred to the FAQ on this post: Migration from Quartz Visual Theme to Horizon Visu... - SAP Community Groups. I'm reading that as it will be automatically enabled with next year's VSaaS release.

Hello everyone,
They have made progress on the issue, and I received an update on my ticket overnight from 26 to 27 October.

1. The issue root cause is not in LMS code, it is related to BizX 2311 version.
2. This means in your LMS VSaaS release this week in Production, you will not be impacted by this issue
3. The fix for the issue will be delivered through a patch, and it is scheduled for 30 October 2023. On 30th of October, you can test the resolution in your preview system

The only available workaround is to disable Course Home Blended and revert to the legacy UI, but at least the legacy UI works again now. With enableCourseHomeBlended=false, we are able to use My Classes and Library Search again, view the Item Details page, and launch online content.

Our strategy for this weekend is to Opt-Out of Course Home immediately in Prod after the system comes up on Friday night. We are regression-testing in the legacy UI those essential features that would be updated if Course Home were enabled, and testing the remaining changes not impacted by Course Home. We will then complete our Course Home validation after October 30 and enable the feature later this year (TBD).

What a pain!
Mary Katherine

Thanks so much for sharing your update @MaryKatherineJ !

I disabled coursehome in my lower environment but it did not restore the library nor the My Classes tab access. It DID allow me to launch and complete content which it was not doing prior to the disablement.

They updated my ticket and confirmed that the library issue should NOT have any effect on the release tonight so let's just keep our fingers crossed! LOL
