Chrome 90 issue with online training module on our company server

Hello,

We have content on our company content server that includes the AICC wrapper and SCORM online modules.  We recently noticed an issue with launching the SCORM online modules on Chrome version 90.  When the 1st training module launched after logging in to SF LMS, user gets an authorization error issue.  If user launches a training document with AICC wrapper, the training launches with no issues.  After being authenticated, they are able to launch the SCORM training module.  This does not happen in Chrome 89.  Anyone experiencing this issue?

Thanks,

May

We had an issue before and read this article to fix.

Instructions:

  • Make this adjustment in Chrome 83 has helped in some LMS environments:
    • Open Chrome browser
    • Copy and paste into URL: chrome://flags/#allow-sync-xhr-in-page-dismissal
    • Change the drop-down selection from "Default" or "Disabled" to "Enabled"

This a new issue with Chrome version 90. We had already applied this fix for chrome 83 and is still enabled in chrome 90 but does not fix the issue we have with chrome 90.

We found the Chrome flag that is causing issues on Chrome 90 and have to advise user to update the following chrome flags to launch the training:
- Copy and paste into URL: chrome://flags/#same-site-by-default-cookies
- Change the drop-down selection from "Default" to "Disabled"

This was not an issue with lower level chrome versions so its possible Google changed their Default. I have submitted case to SF to see what can be done as telling users to update the settings is not ideal and we have many external users.

This issue has gotten worst as in Chrome 91 same-site-by-default-cookies flag has been removed so users cannot disable this feature and will be permanently removed by Chrome 94 so even IT cannot disable the feature. This is a big issue for us as we have a lot of content on our server and users are not able to launch the training on Chrome or Edge now. It works only in the old Internet Explorer. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hi,
Others customers are not experiencing this issue with SCORM content on their content server which relies on the cross-domain proxlet provided by SuccessFactors as it seems there was a new version dated April 2021. We've tried to upgrade to this version but it doesn't seem to fix the issue. Are most customers using the iContent server as this issue should appear for your users using Chrome 90 and above? Any insights would be appreciated.
Thank you,
May

Hi May,

Not sure if we're getting the exact same issue but we have been receiving a significantly higher number of IT support tickets for users launching SCORM content and being met with an LMS API error.

In the past we would rarely see tickets come to us about LMS API as it is usually connectivity issues, however, I am seeing too many tickets for this not to be caused by a different root cause.

It would be good to understand what has changed to cause the LMS API error to appear more often for a lot of our users. Our users can still access the training after leaving it for a while and trying to launch it again but that obviously isn't a great experience for the users.

Thanks,

Ben

We are getting these errors as well for SCORM training on iContent. The issue we have are for SCORM training that is on our content server. We have yet to figure out the LMS API error but it seems to come in spurts. For a short while it was more frequent then became less frequent and when users close all browser windows then open new, the issue went away for our users. We were able to replicate it consistently for a user who had a lower Java version on their computer but other users with higher version experienced it but is fixed with the closing of all browsers windows. I believe there is another post on this awhile back by another customer but no resolution. We were advise when we submitted a case that we need to upload content to iContent via Production environment which we did and cases were less but then it we still got cases with the error still. Sorry I cannot be much help.
Thanks, May
