Hi All,
We are a small pharma company in Ireland, producing finished product, in addition to carrying out R&D activities.
We are currently implementing validated LMS and are keen to hear how other similar companies use the system to train on SOPs. Do you assign exams and/or quizzes or do you rely on Read & Understood acknowledgements as a formal record of training completion (in conjunction with practical training)?
We're trying to gauge industry standard and would welcome any feedback.
Kind Regards,
Juliett

hi Julie,
for some SOP's (mainly GxP/Compliance/Legal) we do use quizzes to ensure the documents are being properly read and understood. We have only used the exams for product level training for more advanced clinical/medical roles, and we also use question pools to mix things up a little.
hope this helps.

Hi Juliett. We use Assessments (and still the old PQE) heavily for SOP related items - as one part of the training. Usually we would have a 'read and understood' part, a practical part (if applicable) using Task Checklists to have these as Observer type assessments on the job.... and then a quiz/exam.

For our GxP documents, we have eSignatures. The documents are wrapped in AICC so they have to attest and then eSign.
There are some SOPs that require OJTs (On the Job Training). The employee requests the training and the trainer conducts the training and marks them as complete if they show competence.
As for quizzes, we have some quizzes that are required. We attached it to the item so it shows up as one item and two Learning objects (the document and the quiz).
We also have refreshers which are CBTs (computer based training or online courses) that support the SOPs. In some cases, we build the quizzes as a CBT vs in the LMS. But in most cases, we build the quizzes in the LMS so we can track per question and run metrics on the questions.
