Upgraded to "New Experience for the Home Page"?

Has any upgraded to the "New Experience for the Home Page"?

I did so in our test environment, hoping to be an early adopter and launch with the Oct. 23 upgrade. I was very happy with the result of the HXM Home page, but have come across a deal-breaker for us when users complete online content. Specifically, it is when the AICC wrapper is used when we see two possible, and unacceptable, results:

Situation 1: AICC Wrapper is used, and Inline Content Launch Configuration is disabled

In this case, the user accesses the course and then selects the content object. A new tab/window displays the AICC wrapper but, instead of the content appearing in the iFrame, there is a link to to content. User clicks on the link and a THIRD tab/window opens with the content. But wait, the wrapper with the Read & Understand statement is on the previous window so there is little connection between the two and who knows which tab/window the user will return to?

Situation 2: AICC Wrapper is used, and Inline Content Launch Configuration is enabled

This one is a little better. The user accesses the course and then selects the content object. The AICC wrapper loads in the current window this time but, again, there is a link to to content which now opens in a second tab/window. Unfortunately, the wrapper with the Read & Understand statement is still on the previous window so there is only an indirect connection.

It is as if they tried to solve the problem but eliminated the wrong pop-up window. Has anyone else discovered this, maybe have created a solution?

Hello Ward, I am not sure whether you are referring to the new Course Home for items? We also tried to enable it but it was not compatible with the wrapper in use (similarly to what you experienced), so we switched back to the "old" table of content. With the new Course Home  content opens in a new tab of the browser even when we select the "open content in a new window" option.

Of course we did not test all content objects but in my experience it is not uncommon that content objects are optimized and tested to work in a new window and not in another tab.

We have opened a ticket with support to have the content opening in a new window (as currently is). This is still in progress, but it might become an issue in case this is not solved when the new course home becomes universal (next year?).

Have you received a response to your ticket? We created one as well, but the response was less than helpful.
