we have a QMS TrackWise connected to our SF vLMS. The TW provides 2 DB Views for SOPs, a SAP PI creates 5 connector documents (item, item_locale, curriculum, curriculum_locale and curriculum_item). 2 locale files for GER. This will be imported by connectors item & curricula into the vLMS. We transfere all SOP versions into LMS, so the TW is owner of the status and items. The items of a SOP are in a curriculum. The SOP curicula are assigned to curricula and this curricula are assigned to job codes. So if a new Version of a SOP is occuring, it is automatically assigned to all users, how need to read them (based on job code). We have also a custom programmed WebService from sparta at TW, where the document (SOP) is provided for download / view. The link to the WS is attached in item - content. So the SOPs can be only read out of vLMS if the user is in our local network (TW is onPremis).
