International Women's Day is celebrated every year on March 8. This day serves to recognize women's social, political, economic, and cultural achievements and draw attention to the persistent inequality and discrimination against women worldwide.

Here are 5 facts about International Women's Day:

  1. International Women's Day was first celebrated in the United States in 1909. It was a movement for women's right to vote and better working conditions. In 1911, International Women's Day was first celebrated in Germany, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland. Since then, it has become a global day celebrated in many countries worldwide.
  2. Our theme for this year, "DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality" is inspired by the theme of the United Nations. We believe that when women and girls have equal opportunities for inclusive and transformative technology and digital education, it sparks creative solutions and drives true gender equality.
  3. Women have achieved many successes and accomplishments throughout history. For example, Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. Today, many successful women in politics, business, the arts, and culture are role models for young women worldwide.
  4. Despite the progress women have made throughout history, there is still much to be done to combat inequality and discrimination against women. Women still earn less than men for the same work in many countries, and women are often underrepresented in leadership positions. It is important to continue fighting for equality and gender justice to create a more just world for women.
  5. International Women's Day is important to recognize women's achievements and raise awareness about inequality and discrimination against women. It is a day to encourage women to take up challenges and fight for equality and gender justice. It is also a day to remember that there is still much to be done to create a more just world for women.
