The second SAP Inside Track Sydney event of 2023 was held at the SAP office in North Sydney on 4th May 2023.
The event brought together SAP community members with different backgrounds and expertise, including customers, partners, individual contractors, consultants, new grads, and SAP employees, for a night of knowledge sharing, great banter, pizza, and drinks! Special thanks to AWS for sponsoring the food.
SAP Inside Track (SIT) is an event where members of the SAP Community come together to share knowledge and experiences about SAP related topics. It's an opportunity to network, meet like-minded peers and learn what others are doing.
Stay tuned for the next SAP Inside Track Sydney event. Coming really soon.
It's going to be a special one.
#SITSYD RECAP
We started the night with some networking and food/drinks. It's always a good sight: old friends catching up, acquaintances you've only met virtually, new members being welcomed, connections being formed. In an SAP Inside Track event, there are no customers and vendors - you are all part of one SAP community, so walls are down, and the conversations are even more interesting.
We then transitioned to the SAP Innovation Space for the presentation segment.
Me kicking off the presentation segmentSAP Champion Mustafa Bensan providing SAP Community updates and information about the SAP Universal ID
We had two amazing speakers: Diego Lombardini (AWS) and Aabhas K Vishnoi (Wilmar Australia) who shared their knowledge and experience around different topics - lots of questions and engagement from the audience.
Diego presented the AWS - SAP BTP joint reference architecture. He shared how SAP BTP and AWS services could complement each other for different business scenarios. This is a really important topic as SAP customers look into their multi-cloud strategy.
Aabhas talked about two of Wilmar's innovations built on SAP BTP: a pre-work checklist native mobile app (SAP MDK) and an ordering portal (SAPUI5).
The focus of the session was on security and how SAP Cloud Identity Services and SAP BTP's Authorisation and Trust Management service were used to establish SSO, enforce authorisations and security policies and leverage existing corporate Identity Provider and SSO infrastructure.
Finally - to the pub!
The ol' reliable Rag & Famish Hotel down the road served as the after-party venue. The place was buzzing, and the drinks and conversations were flowing (drinks optional, of course). I got to meet new faces and re-connected with some old friends. There was a fresh grad who was putting himself out there to learn more about the SAP universe. I also had some technical discussions and life conversations, and learned a lot in the process. That's what it's all about.
Overall, it was another great night and I am already looking forward to the next one!
