Introduction - In this blog we will see how we can take advantage of new business partner concept in S/4 HANA to facilitate an important aspect as per automotive industry.

This blog will comprise of following topics :-

1) Some basics of S/4 HANA Business Partner

A business partner can be a person, an organization, or a group. A business partner can be characterized by the following basic structure:

  • Business partner categories
  • Grouping
  • Business partner roles

2) Business need for partner function in Automotive Industry -

An automotive company has three important partners

  • Dealer - The customer is the business partner to whom the vehicle is to be sold. (dealers).
  • Sub-Dealer – A person or entity that enters into an agreement with Dealer to sell Company Service from a website on Dealer's behalf and sells such Service using a separate dealer code.
  • End Customer – They are dealer's customer. The end customer is the customer of the dealer who wants to buy car. Business partner role VLC001 End Customer is used for creating end customers and managed under dealer partner ID.

Mostly this industry has some unique partner function requirement as below

  • Requirement 1  – Company wanted same role (like VLC001) will be assigned to End customer & Sub-dealer.
  • Requirement 2 – Their number ranges will be different.
  • Requirement 3 – They should be able to distinguish in report as well.

3) How to solve this easily with help of S/4 HANA Business Partner

As same role, separate number ranges and some identifier were needed as per business criteria so we customized two different business partner grouping which will succor all the fitment.

New definition - ZZSD - Business partner grouping for Sub dealer

                         ZZEC - Business partner grouping for End Customer 

Benefits -

This definition kept reporting parameter different for both the partners.

Their number ranges are distinct but role is same.

Conclusion - Thus with phenomenal innovation of S/4 HANA, the critical functionalities are also achievable very conveniently.
