You might have already heard about this in the executive keynote from our CTO Juergen Mueller that we have launched a new free tier offering in SAP Business Technology Platform. As one of the strategic and key services on SAP Business Technology Platform and the strategic integration platform as a service (iPaaS) offering from SAP, we are very happy to announce that the free tier service option is available for SAP Integration Suite as well.

What is the Free Tier service option?

In a nutshell, the free tier model offers you the advantage of trying our top ranked iPaaS free of cost. You can provision a production quality tenant with all the supported capabilities. If you are happy with our service and want to continue using it productively, we offer an easy upgrade path to one of our paid service plans without any migration efforts. This helps you to retain and carry forward all the development that you did while you were using SAP Integration Suite on the free tier plan.

If you have any questions or need support, you can check out the rich content available on our SAP Integration Suite community for answers. If you still don’t find answers, ask a question on our community and our experts are happy to help.

TIP: Make sure that you select “SAP Integration Suite” as the SAP Managed Tag in the question!

Getting Started with the Free Tier

As an SAP user with an existing CPEA or PAYG for SAP BTP contract, you can simply log into your SAP BTP cockpit to get started.

Please follow this blog for step-by-step guidance on how to get started with a free-tier tenant and how you can upgrade to a paid service plan: Integration Suite: Provisioning and Upgrading a Free Tier Tenant

If you don’t have a global account in SAP BTP and want to get started using the free tier, sign up for a PAYG account on the SAP Store. Once your account in provisioned, you can log in to the SAP BTP cockpit and start using the services that have the Free service plan!

How long can you use the free tier?

The free tier tenant will be valid for 90 days from the day you provision the tenant. After 90 days, the tenant will get decommissioned automatically. If you want to move to a paid plan, make sure you so within 90 days. Once the tenant is decommissioned, you cannot retrieve the content that you had developed on this tenant. After 90 days, you can provision a new free tier tenant, if you wish to.

We hope that the free tier offers you a simple and easy path to get started with SAP Integration Suite and SAP Business Technology Platform as well. You can find a few helpful links below to help you explore the free tier.

Hi Gautham,

Thanks for this update. It is good news indeed. I have a few questions regarding the free tier.

  1. On the Discovery Center, it says that it will be decommissioned after 90 days if it is not upgraded to a paid plan. Is it possible to provision a new free tier tenant after the old one has been decommissioned (like the current BTP trial), or it is just available as a one-off?

  2. Is the 10K limit for messages per month or for the lifetime of the tenant (i.e. 90 days). Once the limit is reached, is there a notification to move to a paid plan, or will the account be automatically charged?

This is a great option and helps discover more micro services.

Happy to hear this news. Is the free tier service kind of free-for-life if for personal use?

Hi Eng Swee,

After 90 days, the tenant will get automatically decommissioned and you will lose all the content on the tenant. After this, you are free to provision another tenant again but you will have to start from scratch.

Yes, the tenant however will get decommissioned after 90 days. You will lose everything on the tenant. After this, if you want, you can provision the tenant again, but this will be a fresh tenant and you should start from scratch. This 90-day cycle will keep going. But essentially yes, you can use it for life.

Hi Gautham, thanks for clarifying point 1. Can you also please shed some light on point 2?

My concern if if there is a possibility to accidentally accumulated unexpected charges once the limit is crossed without any prior warning/notification.

Hi Eng Swee,

As of today, you cannot exceed 10k messages in the free tier and need to switch to a paid service plan to consume more than 10k messages per month.

Hi Gautham,

Is the Integration Suite the only service with an expiry date? I guess.
And is this a final situation? Loosing all after 90 days is very unpractical.

Thanks for providing some insights on this.

Kind regards,
Dimitri

Hi Dimitri,

The purpose of this offering is to get a hands-on experience of Integration Suite. Since we offer this production grade tenant at no extra cost, it cannot be kept active for an indefinite time period. You can always back up your content locally before the end of 90 days.

Hi

I've just checked the Free Tier pricing information about SAP Integration Suite in the SAP Discovery Center and could not find anymore the 90 day limitation. Is it gone ore is this information just missing?

Hi Gautham,

thank you for the reply. So the 90 day limitation is still a thing. When do you think will the Discovery Center be updated?

unfurunately until today the Free Tier pricing information about SAP Integration Suite in the SAP Discovery Center was not updated with the 90 day time limit.
