SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP 7.51 Innovation Package is the compatible follow up release of SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.4 or 7.5. Depending on your current release, you can set up SAP NetWeaver 7.51 AS ABAP Innovation Package either through new installation or upgrade from an older SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP installation.

SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP 7.51 Innovation Package offers the foundation for the digital core that is SAP S/4HANA, on-premise edition, and for the standalone custom development of ABAP-based business applications. SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP 7.51 Innovation package intensifies the support of technology trends like the Internet of Things (IoT), Mobile, Cloud, Big Data and Analytics and offers a foundation for the easy and fast development of simple business applications. The innovations in ABAP together with improvements to SAP HANA-centric application development, SAP Fiori, IoT scenarios support and lifecycle management offer significant benefits.

Interesting news! However, it seems that the ABAP Keyword Documentation is not released yet

And a question: Is the roadmap already updated with respect to 7.51; the date of the roadmap slides is April 2016, so I would guess that 7.51 points are not considered there as current state

I didn't find the software either in Maintenance Planner nor in http://support.sap.com. Is the installtion / upgrade software released and how to get it ? I would like to do a new implementation first.

Hi Olga,

I'm not seeing the "NW AS ABAP INNOVATION PACKAGE" neither with my S-User. Isn't the 7.51 released for ALL customers yet?

In the PAM it says "Die Kundennummer Ihres verwendeten S-Users ist nicht berechtigt, auf den Download-Bereich dieser Software-Produktversion zuzugreifen." (The customer number of your S-User has not the authority to access the download area of this product version).

All other versions up to 7.50 I'm able to download (and install of course).

I found out the root cause. There were some problems with licence numbers, which needed to be fixed. The release should be available for download today during the day.

I assume you’re referring to draft support within the new ABAP Programming model for SAP S/4HANA applications [Docu@SAP Help Portal].

The support of write scenarios has been enhanced with ABAP 7.51. At the present stage, i.e. ABAP 7.51 SP00, draft support is not part of the AS ABAP delivery. Our development team is working on further enhancing the support of write scenarios, and draft support for interactive scenarios is part of that development. The current plan is to deliver this feature with upcoming ABAP 7.51 support packages*.

did you found any Solution to upgrade to NW AS ABAP 7.51? Im currently trying to upgrade from an SAP Netweaver 7.5 System, but im facing an Error in SUM that there is no upgrade Export.

"Missing Product DVD for Product NW"

Any Ideas how to fix this?

In the BI Environment, if we upgrade from NW 7.5 to 7.51, Will it work for Bex connections, Since 7.51 for JAVA is not available?

after reading the discussion, I am wondering if it's possible to upgrade an ERP 6.0 system (EHP8 / NW 7.50) to the SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP 7.51 Innovation Package. A new installation is not an option for us.

Hi Jürgen,

It is not clear yet, if SAP Business Suite ever runs on SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP innovation package 7.51. It can skip 7.51 and upgrade to a (not yet planned) later release.

Upgrade options for 7.51 are offered for SAP NetWeaver start releases 7.4 and 7.5 when the usage type is restricted to ABAP development and execution. The 7.51 is the underlying ABAP platform for SAP S/4HANA and is also targeted for custom development of ABAP-based transactional applicatons.

When I tried BOPF from Eclipse with 7.51 and wanted to create new action - I got the message " A Request to the ABAP backend could not be processed - because your client installation of ABAP development tools is out of date - I updated and installed all the updates - when I tired again after restarting Neon 3 I still go the same error and no updates where found this time

generally your approach is correct. Maybe some updates to ADT are still missing.Please try to install the newest available ABAP Development Tools and try again.

Hi ,

I installed NW 7.51 and I want to use it as a frontend system for Fiori apps , will this work with back-end ECC 6 EHP 6 systems?

I am planning to configure Approve Purchase Orders apps , which only talk of NW 7.31 as front end.

Please clarify and point me to the relevant documents.

Hello,

I can’t get RSTT tracing operational in NW AS ABAP 7.51 INNOVATION PKG, despite having followed 1895164 – RSTT: Problems recording an RSTT trace and 2349246 – Transaction RSTT

The tool is expected to give MDX tracing. Actually MDXTEST tcode works fine, also tracing on BW RSRT is working, but not EPM MDX tracing.

Did anyone meet such an issue ? Any help is welcome.
