Did you mean:
This is it: SAP Process Automation is now available in SAP BTP Free Tier!

What does it mean for you?

As a customer, partner, or even individual developer, you can start trying out SAP Business Technology Platform capabilities for free and without time limits.

So, as of now, your BTP Free Tier account enables you to build and test your automations scenarios with an easy path to productive use. Indeed, SAP Process Automation Free Tier allows you to store data long-term, to upgrade to paid service plans and then move automation projects to production easily. And, last but not least, you get access to our community, including free technical resources such as inspiring blog posts and in-depth tutorials.

Free Tier vs Trial?

If you used SAP Intelligent RPA or other BTP capabilities via a trial account in the past, it is important to understand the difference between free tier and trial. That is why I have the pleasure to share this very short TikTok-style video where our colleague and innovation specialist vivien.boche explains the difference in only one minute:

Simply put, a trial is only for testing purposes, whereas free tier allows you to move to production without losing any of your previous work.

Learning how to use SAP Process Automation

By combining Business Process Management, Robotic Process Automation and Artificial Intelligence services with an intuitive citizen developer experience, SAP Process Automation enables employees to learn how workflows and processes can be automated easily – using visual features that require no coding expertise.

To rapidly create your first automations with your Free Tier access, take advantage of our SAP Low-Code/No-Code Learning Journey, with the following unit to be available soon: "Building Your First Process with SAP Process Automation".

How to Get Started

Your journey starts with creating your BTP account, as explained in this video:

For more detailed info on how to start using SAP BTP Free Tier, you can refer to blog posts from riley.rainey

To set up your Free Tier sub-account for SAP Process Automation, refer to this detailed step-by-step video from our expert peter.engel:

And to start creating your first automated process with SAP Process Automation, I recommend this detailed blog posts series from muralidaran.shanmugham2:

I think that I shared all the information you need to kick-start your automation journey as a Citizen Developer. Now, up to you to take advantage of SAP Process Automation!

Thanks a lot for this great blog!

I tried to activate Cloud foundry as described in the you tube video, but unfortunately there is no free plan available. Is there anything i have to consider?

Hi Sascha,

do you have a PayGo or CPEA global account? To which video you refer?

Hi Sebastian,

great News, as I've thought that I have to wait for Q2/2022 as this was announced according to the roadmap for the (partner) non commercial services - and it's already visible as entitlement in "our" global account.

Thanks for that,

Rainer

Hi Peter,

it's a Pay-As-You-Go for SAP BTP for partners. I'm refering to SAP BTP Free Tier: Create Your Individual Account

Thanks a lot for this information.

I wanted to try it out. But during using the booster there occurs an error:
Perhaps somebody has a solution for me:

Hi Mathias,

you are trying to deploy SAP Process Automation in a sub-account where SAP Intelligent RPA is active. This is not possible.

Hi Peter,

thanks a lot for your help! So for the "free" version I created a new sub account and the execution of the booster was successful. Thank you.

The error message was a little bit confusing.

For the future: What is the best strategy to "change" from SAP iRPA to SAP Process Automation? We are using only one sub-account. I can't delete iRPA before, because we have active processes there.

Mathias

Great to see, Free Tier is already available. unfortunately, only on AWS.

Is there any timeline for the availability on Azure (eu20 in particular)?

Hello I tried to follow along with your instructions, however I didn't receive the email confirmation as per this statement of the order request mail:

"You will receive two emails once your order is completed, one confirming the order is fully processed and one with your tenant and login information."

I opened a ticket one day after receiving this email, but still no mail nor response from support team...

Could it be any issue if you had the free trial before trying to get free tier?

Hi David,

apologies for the late reply! Hope you had a lovely Easter (if you celebrate it 🙂)

Yes if you had a trial account with SAP Intelligent RPA, you can not activate SAP Process Automation free tier in the same sub-account. Please try creating a new account.

Best,

Enkhzul

Hi Sam,

you can find the content for SAP Process Automation in the Store. You are able to use this content also with the free tier version.

Hi David,

if you are using the same ID / mail this could be the reason for this. If your are still facing this issue state this in the ticket again and inform the colleagues that you have existing accounts.

I had the same situation but get everything in 1,5 h.

Hi Peter,

In meantime we tried and we have an error about missing destinations, these destinations seems related to workflow management service.

In the prerequisites of process automation there is:

Prerequisites

To add a workflow management project to the Lobby, the following configurations are required:

  • Configure the workflow management entitlements for your subaccount

https://help.sap.com/docs/PROCESS_AUTOMATION/a331c4ef0a9d48a89c779fd449c022e7/b38897b821874ebe98fb15...

But we cannot find "workflow management" in the free tier.

Thank you

Hi Samuele,

okay, now I got your problem. Workflow Management has no free tier option in place. In May it should be possible to deploy the workflow content in a SAP Process Automation runtime without any additional services to activate.

peter.engel is it available in all the countries? Also is sap irpa free trial is going to discontinue?

Hi Prasad,

it depends on how you want to access the free tier. If your company already have a PayGo or CPEA contract you can easily activate it. If you want to use it as a private account then there are some limitations regarding the countries as this activation requires credit card information. This process is not available in all countries. You can easily check it if you try to sign a PayGo contract in the SAP shop.

The IRPA free trial will be available for a certain time, but no guarantee how long this will be.

Hi Peter,

Hi Sascha,

do you have a PayGo for partner GA? Only there you can activate the free tier plan. Do you have assigned the entitlements to the sub account?

sorry to be late with my answer. Why it is not possible for you to use an additional sub-account?

Hi Good Morning,

Can we add the free tier plan to our existing enterprise account?

When we check from the service assignment menu we cannot see the free plan available.

Kindly advise.
