We’re in the final stages of planning for our next UI5con ON AIR. In exactly two weeks, we will open our virtual doors for you to join us for an event full of information, community spirit, and fun! So, if you haven’t done so already, mark your calendars for June 16/17.

There’s no need for you to register, just go to https://broadcast.co.sap.com/go/ui5con on the day of the conference and you’re good to go. We will also have this link on our event home page at https://openui5.org/ui5con/onair2021/.

Agenda

You will also find our agenda on the home page including all speaker profiles here: https://openui5.org/ui5con/onair2021/#agenda. We’re really happy to have so many non-SAP contributors that want to share their views and ideas with all of us. Oh, and there will be more lady power this year! There’s no quota or politics involved – just high-quality session proposals. 🙂

For our agenda, we tried to accommodate different time zones so that every UI5 fan in the world has a chance to catch some live sessions. If you can’t make it to a session that you’re interested in, don’t worry: We will record all speaker presentations and publish the videos on our OpenUI5 YouTube channel after the event.

So, what’s waiting for you?

Day 1 (June 16)

We will kick off at 3 pm CEST with the keynote speech. Stefan Beck and Peter Muessig (the usual suspects) will update you on the latest achievements and future plans for UI5.

The two lectures after that deal with UI5 security aspects and the new easy-ui5 generator. After a break, you will learn about TypeScript support, UI5 testing, annotations, and adaptive integration cards.

Then for some fun! Our day 1 after-show party is all about socializing, games, chatting, meeting old friends, and making new ones. We've set up our own map on Gather, a cool virtual space with a retro feel that lets you interact with each other. Just walk around with your avatar and mingle! You can already find the link to the space in the agenda to try it out.

Day 2 (June 17)

Day 2 will start off with another keynote speech at 9 am CEST. This time, Stefan and Peter are joined by Katja Zoch, Chief Product Owner for SAP Fiori elements and SAP Fiori Tools. Together, they will tell you how UI5 and SAP Fiori elements go hand in hand to make UI5 development easier.

This is followed by sessions on automatic app deployment via GitHub, SAP Fiori tools, as well as accessibility. After a break, we will continue with presentations on UI5 smart controls, UI5 component reuse, computing properties, and test automation with UIVeri5.

And that’s it! Well, almost: After the last session, you have another chance to chat with the others in our Gather space, share some impressions about the event, whatever you want. At about 3 pm CEST, we will leave you with hopefully many new insights and ideas that will help you on your journey with UI5.

Meet the Experts

During the two 1-hour breaks each day, you have the chance to chat with experts from certain UI5 areas. Just like at our traditional on-site event, we have set up booths for them where they're waiting for you to pester them with your questions! Well, the booths are virtual and in our Gather space, but apart from that it's close to the real thing. Check our agenda to find out which experts will be “on duty” for you during the breaks.

Thanks!

This is a good opportunity to say thank you to everyone who helped shape this diverse and interesting agenda! First of all: Thanks to everyone who proposed their session ideas. You make UI5con! If your proposal didn’t make it, please do try again next time. Then, we'd like to thank all that responded to our call for volunteers and helped us with all sort of tasks and open questions. What would UI5con be without! A special thanks goes to our non-SAP helpers:

  • Nadya Brown (juror)

  • Volker Buzek (juror + moderator)

  • Tobias Hofmann (juror)

  • Ethan Jewett (juror + moderator)

  • Wouter Lemaire (moderator)

  • Greg Malewski (juror + moderator)
