Difference between SAP Cloud Platform Integration (SAP CPI) and SAP Smart Data Integration (SAP SDI)

Hi,

I want to know the difference between CPI and SDI on the basis of functionality, scalability and availability for different kinds of systems.

In which scenario we can use them SDI or CPI and where we can not use it.

As I know the CPI is mainly related to Time-series based data and SDI is related to the real-time data connection.

Kindly help me to get the better picture for differentiating the above mentioned Interface technologies.

Regards,

Maftun Ahmed

SDI is best for real time replication, and for situations when HANA is the target system. SDI primarily runs in your HANA system, with a small agent application installed somewhere near the source data. The agent reads and sends the data forward to HANA for processing.

CPI-DS greatest use case is for integrating with IBP. The application is hosted in SAP Cloud Platform, and again it requires a small agent application installed near data sources. In this case, the agent actually performs some processing on the data so performance depends on the agent resources.
