Failing to import ABAP Flight Reference Scenario in S/4 HANA 2023 system

I have tried, very unsuccessfully, to import the ABAP Flight Reference Scenario to our on-prem S/4 HANA 2023 system.

I tried twice importing the 2023 branch from SAP-samples/abap-platform-refscen-flight at ABAP-platform-2023 (github.com), using a downloaded zip file as our system is blocked by a firewall from connecting directly to github.com

Has anyone had a similar experience and perhaps managed to do this successfully?

Unfortunately, there is a disclaimer on the repo that there is no support for the Flight Reference Model.

However, the SAP Help suggests to customers to use this repo and abapGit to import it:

(It is furthermore baffling to me how much SAP promotes and endorses abapGit when that is developed completely independently and without any support from SAP!).
