Mask contains only hieroglyphs / symbols

Hello Experts,

from time to time it happens that a few users only see symbols in the webgui / screen personas mask.
(personas script buttons and html standard menu's and dynpros are affected. It happens in different transactions)

Can someone explain how this can happen?

Most of the time, the display is correct again after the reload of the transaction.
It happens very rarely and it is not reproducible.

Oddly enough, we have just had this start happening sporadically in the past few weeks, also in the WebGui. So its not just you. We're looking into the notes listed in the answer above... MOST of our incidents of it can be resolved with a cache/cookie deletion of the browser, but we have at least two users where its now a persistent problem.

Used to see more of this in BEX and the older version of SAPGUI for Windows (prior to rel 7x) ; but I have yet encounter them in WebGUI\SE. BTW ... The technical SAP used for this type of garbled char is "Mojibake". The two notes below is very useful for WinGUI; not sure if it's as applicable for WebGUI\SE.
