Hi,
Kindly help me to understand old article number field in SAP retail and it's uses?
Thanks and regards,
Manu
Hello 02dilip,
The old article number field is used in which you have managed the article so far or still manage it, for example, in another system or in a card index.
Let me know if any clarification on it.

Hi Neeraj Jain,
Thanks for the answer.
I've seen that old article number being inserted/entered/assigned for new articles, why is it so?. Is it because they have any other parallel system company might have(as you said).
Or
The same old articles are remanufactured
Or
The old article number is same number used by vendor who provides the articles.
Hello 02dilip,
Let say one example:
If currently you are using a non-SAP system / manual stock register and you are planning to migrate to SAP system. In your current system an article number is "ABCD" and when you migrate to SAP, the system has generated the article# WXYZ but description is same. To recognize your old article number with new one we maintain "ABCD" in old article number field.
Also, we can use this field as written by you in all options as required by the business or to capture in the operational reports so that users will be comfortable with their old numbers/description.
Let me know if any clarification on it.
Regards,
Neeraj Jain
