Automatic reload of UWL items after UWL cache cleared

Hi All

Due to change in one of the task, we re-registered item type and cleared UWL cache. After clearing UWL cache, workitems are not reloaded in UWL inbox. Instead user need to click manually "Refresh" button in UWL to reload all workitems. Is it possible to automatically reload the workitems in UWL inbox after UWL cache cleared.

Note, we have schedule background job (pgm name: RSWNUWLSEL, every 2 mins) to pull all the workitems from backend to UWL but after the job runs also UWL inbox is not reloaded with workitems.

Thanks

Hi HRIS NJA

I hope you are keeping well and many thanks for using the SAP Discussion Forums on SAP Communities. Surrounding your scenario you mentioned the following:

  • Due to change in one of the task, we re-registered item type and cleared UWL cache. After clearing UWL cache, workitems are not reloaded in UWL inbox. Instead user need to click manually "Refresh" button in UWL to reload all workitems. Is it possible to automatically reload the workitems in UWL inbox after UWL cache cleared. Ok firstly from a high level perspective let us remember the concept through which the UWL refresh mechanism works. The UWL itself is build upon two primary pull operations when a refresh is invoked.

Firstly tasks are pulled from (via the connectors) into the UWL cache and they are then pulled a second time into the UWL UI i.e. the users inbox.

In terms of “Automatic Refreshing” with the UWL this functionality is provided via the functional “Real Time Refresh (RTR)” mechanism. Now the use of Real-Time-Refresh. RTR (Real-Time-Refresh) feature is ONLY for when a task is “Completed” and the use the Real-Time-Refresh feature came in for Product Versions of 702 SP2 720/SP2 and higher.

So let us remember that the RealTimeRefresh (RTR) mechanism of UWL enables automatic update of the UWL task and alerts list. Thus, when items are set to status “Complete” they are removed from the New and In Progress view in the UWL You can configure UWL to refresh its tasks and alerts list at time period different that the minimum 20 second period.

  • Choosing RealTimeRefresh (RTR) – Outcome = The user does not need to use the refresh function to update the inbox.
