hi I'm trying to copy existing hana technical user and create new user with same roles and privileges as the copied user. However I noticed that roles and privileges are not copied.

Is there anyway or tool that makes possible to copy a user inculding the roles and privileges

Or any tool that makes possible to export hana user inculding the roles and reimported.

Many thanks!

Hello,

There is no standard functionality to import/export users/roles (except repository roles). If you are implementing user authorization through roles created in the SAP HANA repository, it is possible to create a new user by copying an existing user. The repository roles granted to the existing user are automatically granted to the new user. SQL roles and individual privileges are not granted.

There are two ways to create/keep desired users and roles in the target system:

1) Use a system refresh and then recreate the users/roles in the target schema manually. or
2) Export and import only the changed catalog objects by referring to the sections below in the SAP HANA Administration Guide

6.2.4.7.1 Catalog Roles and Repository Roles Compared
6.2.5.1.4 Copy a User Based on SAP HANA Repository Roles4.6.2.5 Export Tables and Other Catalog Objects 4.6.2.6 Import Tables and Other Catalog Objects

3) If you're using Database Explorer to perform this task, please follow the equivalent instructions from
developers.sap.com > Export and Import Data and Schema with SAP HANA Database Explorer

4) If you're migrating to cloud environments (HaaS, HANA Cloud), please follow :
Manually Migrate Users, Roles, and Privileges to SAP HANA Cloud
