dump, load and partitioning

Dears kindly help in knowing about these issues:

when I dump an ASE database, I should load it on another database that has the same device name, right?

1. should the target devices size be equal to those I dump db from it?

we are planning to partition some of our huge table, doing table and index partition,

2. does range partition need a special license?

3. after partitioning has done, does it will affect dump and load operation? mean if we create some segments to hold partitions, do we need to create them on target database and also do partitioning on the same table at the target database, then load a dump , or the operation is more simple like this?

You can dump a Sybase database to any device name. Need not be same as the source.

Secondly , the dbsize ( data and log size) should be bigger or similar to the source database.

If your are not aware of the dbsize , there is a simple technique. 1) create a dummy database with a small size

2) load the database

3) the size will be displayed in the first line of the errorlog

Please reach out in case in any questions
