Hi,
We use Extended star schema in BW and star schema in SAP Hana.
Can anyone tell me why we use star schema in Hana instead of Extended star schema??
Hello Vaishnavi,
I'm not sure if I got your question right... but in SAP BW on any DB your Infocubes consist of up to 16 dimension tables with all the SID combinations of the master data SIDs available in your transactional data.
This means, when you e.g. delete data records, the dimension tables usually keep all entries unlesse you clear the unused combinations via RSRV steps.
In contrast, in BW on HANA your Infocube is flat like in a DSO. HANA stores all data in-memory and is faster so that it does not need the dimension table concept any more.
BR, Martin
