Hello all,
Hope you are doing great..!!
I have a query to you all.
I am planning for a migration of our BODS landscape from on prem to Azure.
BODS is having DQM on top of it.
Below is the source version -
OS - Application - SUSE LINUX Ent. 12 SP05
OS - DB - SUSE LINUX Ent. 12 SP05
SAP Business Objects Data Services 4.2 SP05/IPS 4.2 SP5
DB - ASE16SP03PL05
Below is the target version on cloud -
SAP BO Data Services 4.3 SP02 Patch 4/IPS 4.3 SP 03 patch 7
DB - SAP ASE 16.0 SP04
OS - Application - SLES enterprise 15 SP5
OS - DB - SLES enterprise 15 SP5
Can anybody kindly help me with the document / link of the cloud migration steps of BODS? There are some extra steps need to be done for the data services. Kindly help me sharing the steps or processes of the same.
Also I need to know how to migrate DQM from on prem to cloud
Thanks in advance..
Hi Biswarup,
Please note that Lift & Shift is not officially supported as way of migrating your environment and we do not recommend it unless you are migrating the entire application server (VM) from one server to another.
By migrating the entire application server (VM), you also migrate the shared libraries and links referencing to some files that will always get broken when you simply copy the files from one application server (VM) to another.
Lift & Shift of just the application has very high chances of corrupting your entire application server and there are alot more possible point of failures.
Recommended Method
The recommended way is to install the application on the new server(cloud/on-prem) and to migrate all your repository data to that new server.
Please also remember to keep the old environment and only decommission it after verifying that the migration was successful.
