Hi community!
I don't find myself too often looking at the changelogs or release notes of SAP UI5 versions, but when I do, its always a pain in the neck. My client has a very slow upgrade cycle so it often involves going up several minor versions in one go.
When applying patches is easy, I just go to the release notes, look up the patch I'm applying and look at all fixes/features implemented to assess potential issues in my project. However when I need to do this for several versions is not that easy, as you have the dropdown that controls the versions, then all tabs for the different libraries and it can take some time... plus you know, as a developer, why would I spend 1 hour doing some productive work when I can spend 200 hours looking for a way to automate it? 🙂
But before I try to implement some sort of tool that would allow me to get the list of release notes from version X to version Y in a spreadsheet or some type of format that would make the process easier for me (sorting, filtering, having everything in one page...) I was wondering if anyone here has done/seen something similar, or if there is a better way to look at the SAP release notes, maybe a different URL/tool that I have missed?
As always, thanks so much for you inputs!
EDIT: In case is not clear, I just want to know your experiences with the existing tool, if you use it. Or if you know a better and easier way to achieve the same result. For example: Lets say that you are on 1.60, and you are upgrading to 1.90. The way I have to do it is I have to start in 1.61 and work my way up to 1.90, going through all those fixes and features, even the ones that belong to libraries that I dont use. Then I make my own list that I then can use to make my review before I make the upgrade.
Kr,
Vicente
