Shared variable doesn't work when exported to excel

We display the date and time of the data refresh through a shared variable in the page/report footer. The value displays without any issues when exported to PDF, CSV, it even works for Microsoft Excel (97-2003) and also displays fine on the screen but doesn't export it when data is exported through data only option; it doesn't work on either "Microsoft excel workbook Data-only" or Microsoft Excel; (97-2003) Data-only.)

It feels like a bug but if we are missing an option, please do let us know.

Excel Data Only export focuses on the detail-level result set, not on any other extra info.

I found the solution to the issue with further fiddling with various options, if I uncheck the "simplify headers", the shared variable value shows up in footers.
