Vora 1.3 developer edition VM-style

Hi,

I've followed the http://www.sap.com/developer/how-tos/2017/02/vora-ova-install.html tutorial, and it didn't all work out as planned:

  1. Each time I reboot the VM, the vora and root user are back to their original password.
  2. When I share a folder from Virtualbox (yes, I'm not using VMWare Player) I still can't find it in the VM. I've had a quick look at the openSUSE forums, but couldn't find anything, though it looks like more people have (had) similar issues.

Here is the Shared Folders part of the VM-settings:

Thanks for helping me out...

Hello Fred,

Can you tell me how you downloaded the .ova file?

I am having trouble hitting the right link: https://answers.sap.com/questions/151251/sap-hana-vora-developer-edition-download-link.html

Hi Fred,

2. Can you please try to execute "vmhgfs-fuse /mnt/hgfs" and then check the contents in /mnt/hgfs.

Br,

Mark

Thanks, Mark. This command worked for me as root, in Fusion 8.5.6 on the Mac. I get a warning about the library is too old, though I can see the contents of my shared host folder 'Temp'.

vora@linux-6rxg:~> sudo vmhgfs-fuse /mnt/hgfs
root's password:
fuse: warning: library too old, some operations may not not work
vora@linux-6rxg:~> ls /mnt/hgfs
ls: cannot access /mnt/hgfs: Permission denied
vora@linux-6rxg:~> sudo ls /mnt/hgfs
Temp
