What is the difference between SAP's low code offerings?

Hello all, I'm confused about SAP's offerings for Low code development. What is the difference between SAP MDK, Mendix, and AppGyver? When should you choose an offering over the other? It seems that all 3 solutions offer similar functionalities. If an organization wants to develop an app for their internal users where broad consumer appeal is unnecessary, what product is the right choice for this situation?

Thanks in advance

Mendix is a partnership where as SAP AppGyver is being developed by SAP. Both platforms have many use cases, so they compliment each other in the offering.

Regarding MDK, see below:

MDK is more targeting professional developers and making them more productive with using metadata instead of writing code. And it is very good if a customer is focused on building Mobile Apps obviously, especially with SAP technology. AppGyver is a new true no-code, visual programming methodology addressing a new user role, the cititzen developer, or a technical interested business user, maybe sitting in the business area (LoB) and not necessarily in IT.

Down the road the idea is to use the rich assets of MDK SDK for Android and Apple with AppGyver and make them accessible via visual programming. This would be an invention, leading the market, as non-developers could develop pretty complex business apps on mobile.

Hi

you can find details on this in the following TechEd Session: https://reg.sapevents.sap.com/flow/sap/sapteched2021/portal/page/sessions/session/1630367801631001YA...

In short AppGuyver is for the Citizen developer. Business Application Studio (with MDK for example) is for the professional developer and gives full access to the SAP eco system.

Hm, not according to the AppGyver team.

Quote: "We see the next generation of no-code that SAP AppGyver represents as a form of visual programming. It is a full-blown alternative to writing code, made visual and accessible."

If you can do professional development via AppGyver just more easily, what is left for BAS and MDK? Is sense a contradiction here.
