Redundant Advantage Server

Greetings,

We're in the process of upgrading our infrastructure and the discussion of redundant servers for Advantage was brought to the table.

Let's say you have 2 servers. The first one being your primary Advantage server, and the second your backup.

If the first server goes down, we need to restore 100s of GB of backup data to the second server. This is obviously a lengthy process, and entirely dependent on your backup routine.

What would the ideal setup be that would allow one to replicate the data between the two servers in real-time?

Advantage Replicate was brought up, but I thought that while replication could do the job, it wasn't built with redundancy in mind.

Can anyone suggest some ideas? Or if you've successfully implemented Advantage Replication to create redundancy, we'd love to hear your story.

Thanks!

I would love to see an answer to this question as well.

You could combine RAID (redundant array of independent disks) with a backup strategy. This way you would have protection against hardware failure and data loss.

ADS replication replicates data (not any other database objects) and the databases could be out of sync meaning that if updates are not replicated, the tables will not be in sync. In addition, your client application has to point to the target database if the source one goes down.
