Hi all,
with 2020.Q2 release the feature for creating custom hierarchies on BW live connection was announced. Unfortunately I cannot find any hints in the documentation how to use this feature.
I imported the relevant notes 2865887 and 2865929 and we are already on SAP BW 7.50 SP16. From my point of view all prerequisites are fulfilled.
Are there any other settings I have to keep in mind to make use of this feature? Any settings within the BW Query? I can imagine that hierarchies should be activated on the infoobject used in the query. But also this is the case.
Is there anyone who can share experiences with this?
Regards
Kjell
Hi Henry,
once again thank your for the help. I do understand how it works once the feature is available for us. 🙂
Finally we made it possible to be used. In SAP BW I started again the Note Analyzer with the newest XML file to see what kind of notes are still missing in our system and I found a lot. Well okay, they come with SP17 but nevertheless I scanned the missing notes for something around InA and Custom Grouping and I still found two or three notes I had to install. After that the feature now is available and we will test the using. The following notes have been installed:
0002815937 InA: Diverse Wertehilfeverbesserungen und -korrekturen
0002827190 Aktivierung einer benutzerdefinierten Gruppierung
0002849009 Benutzerdefinierte Gruppierung: Anpassung des InA-Protokolls
0002868462 InA: Benutzerdefinierte Gruppierung nicht aktualisiert oder Fehler bei mehreren
Sorry, just have the german descriptions for that. But maybe this can be a help for anyone with the same problem mateusz_mikulski .
Regards
Kjell

Hi henry.banks ,
thanks for your answer but that is what I already know and also found. But unfortunately there are no further information except that the feature exists. But in our system I cannot find this possibility as secribed in the screenshots. So I thought there might be some other settings to be done somewhere. 🙂

Hi, I have exactly the same issue, but we are using BW4 2.0. I even tried to ask here: https://blogs.sap.com/2020/02/24/blitz-unboxing-custom-hierarchies-groups-for-bw-live-in-sap-analyti..., but no answer so far.
Thanks for the reply!
thanks for going the extra mile and re-running the notes analyzer to pick up the remaining dependencies.

Hi,
no problems, i watched the whats' new Q2 video and extracted some info for you:
the workflow starts off in the table:
from there, you can create a new custom group
this is the dialog where the members are drag dropped into the list
from here you can also indent the different levels of the hierarchy
once that is created, the good news is you can use the hier definition in other chart types:
Hope this helps.

Looks like in case of BW4, we need to have BW4 2.0 SP4, the same as for custom ordering - https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2715030
Hi keinhof
i took at look at the product updates page https://www.sapanalytics.cloud/product_updates/release-q2-2020/
.and there's a screenshot that gives a small hint (under the heading "Custom Hierarchies/Groups for BW Live" )
Looks like it's in the Table Builder :
Does that help?
Kind regards, H

The issue is that the option is not visible in SAC for us, not that we don't know how to activate it...
