SAP HANA EXPRESS SPS05 -insta;;_sdi.sh FAILS

My environment :

I first installed SAP HANA EXPRESS EDITION then extracted sdi.tgz and ran install_sdi.sh script see below

(not VM install but Binary Install ) so Dennis please see below I uninstalled and re-installed again some how

the shell script directory path for import of SAP_WATT.tgz in line number 343 of install_sdi.sh is

not export REGI_DIR=/hana/shared/${SID}/global/hdb/content

Hi Dennis

I managed to finally resolve the issue and install SDI in SAP HANA EXRESS SPS05

First the Delivery Unit HANA_DT_BASE.tgz is missing in Binary Install so I installed using Eclipse and imported the delivery unit (server)

next I executed install_sdi.sh script and it installed successfully

but in the install_sdi.sh script line number 343 export REGI_DIR=/hana/shared/${SID}/global/hdb/content

Should be changed to

343 export REGI_DIR=/hana/shared/${SID}/global/hdb/auto_content

so that means between VM install and Binary install the above directory is named differently so the install_sdi.sh should reflect this diferrence hope someone in sap will notice this and fellow community members will save time from my answer

There are 10 hard-coded references to the default installation path /hana/shared.

If the documentation does not explicitly mention that you can only install SAP HANA, express edition (binary version) onto this path, you could consider this a bug (either of the script or the documentation).

I understand that you have found a workaround. Excellent. Thanks for sharing this with the community .

As mentioned in my blog post, since 2018 the focus of SAP is cloud-first. For SAP HANA this means SAP HANA Cloud. The fact that the express edition was released over a year after the platform edition and just a few days short of the end of mainstream maintenance of its SPS 04 predecessor indicates that inside SAP probably very few people are still working with or on the express project.
