The new Optimized stories offer scripting capabilities and should be the preferred option for building reports and planning forms. There are standard Input controls option available which offer filter selection capabilities on model dimensions without any scripts required. If you need a custom dropdown to offer selection on values other then dimensions you can use the dropdown widget and script the selection behavior.
