Career Path Advice and Certification

Former Member

Hi everyone,

I am Athan Ali, I am a mechanical engineer currently working for W. R. Grace as a Maintenance Engineer. I have interests in technology precisely cybersecurity. I have been using SAP for my daily tasks but would like to shift entirely to the application side and use my interest in security to pursue a new career. What career path do you recommend for me to get into SAP Security and also which certifications will be good for me to start with?

Thank you all!

Hi,

My advice based on my experience of getting into the technology space is to continue to learn more about the technology you use already. If you haven't already make opportunities in your current role to share security best practices or find out more about the security setup to see how you can get more involved. I started in the retail space, but always loved the software and kept trying to make any role I was in around how to best leverage the technology or what technology would help the business thrive more.

I will leave it to the SAP Security gurus to suggest which certifications would be best.

I wish you the best on your journey!

Hello Athan Ali - please review the SAP Learning Journey for security at https://help.sap.com/learning-journeys/500739867a261014b854df198ba24455 - I think it provides some comprehensive learning options.

I don't see anything specifically for Cyber Security, however.  If you are interested in that aspect, I recommend learning more about SAP  Enterprise Threat Detection at https://www.sap.com/products/financial-management/enterprise-threat-detection.html
