Which SAP module to choose for transition from ABAPer to functional

Hi Experts,

I am  having 16 years experience in ABAP and worked on modules CRM, PP, PLM etc.  I am in a dilemma whether to move to functional area or BTP (node.js/CPI) ?  as I have worked on S/4HANA PP, I have some interest to learn S/4HANA PPDS or IBP.   or should I learn SAP EWM or SAP TM?  or again stick to technical path.

My technical expertise is on ABAP, OOABAP, RAP and CDS.

Regards

Sunset

Hi - I think the answer is "it depends".  If you want to go functional, a big part of the job is gathering requirements in which case I recommend taking some business analysis training.   You can start by looking at the International Institute of Business Analysis YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@iiba

But also look at BTP development at https://learning.sap.com/products/business-technology-platform/explore-sap-business-application-stud... - free learning about Business Application Studio

Good luck

Hi,

I'd go for functional. It'd be really something new for you. BTP is ok but continue being technical. And after all, if you don't like functional, you can always go back.

A third option could be combine both. I know several functionals that many times do both. A functional who has a solid technical background is very competitive in the market.

Thanks a lot hdeveloper.
