We kicked off the Next Generation SAP Enterprise Architect Forum with a "Pregame Show" to get the virtual audience warmed up. I am pleased to share this with you to get into the experience as we get set for our "30 Days of Sharing and Learning for Enterprise Architects".

In this kick-off session for the Next Generation SAP Enterprise Architect Forum 2024, Shaun Syvertsen  and I deliver a Pregame Show that underscores the profound impact of community, continuous learning, and innovation within the realm of enterprise architecture.

Through dialogue, we explore the pivotal role of enterprise architects in navigating the ever-evolving technological landscape, emphasizing the importance of human skills, networking, and global collaboration. This talk not only serves as a primer for the forum's proceedings but also as a call for enterprise architecture professionals to actively participate and leverage their collective expertise for driving transformative change.

 Main Recommendations

  • Embrace Community and Networking: Attendees are encouraged to actively engage with the community of enterprise architects by learning, sharing, and connecting with peers. The value of building relationships through in-person interactions at the forum and receptions is highlighted as essential for professional growth and networking.

  • Participate Actively for Professional Development: The importance of coming to the event with questions and a willingness to learn is emphasized. Attendees are advised to show up with intent and lean in to get the most out of the sessions and interactions, suggesting that those who share their experiences and questions will benefit greatly from the shared knowledge within the community.

  • Expand Horizons Globally: The speakers suggest looking forward to the forum's expansion to other countries and its potential to reach a wider audience. This indicates a recommendation for the audience to think globally about the enterprise architecture community and the impact of their work.

  • Focus on Continuous Learning and Adaptation: Given the fast pace of technological change, the speakers stress the need for continuous learning, especially in areas like AI, enterprise architecture practices, and SAP’s RISE program. We recommend staying updated and adaptable to new technologies and methodologies.

  • Develop Soft Skills: A significant emphasis is placed on the importance of developing human skills such as storytelling and emotional intelligence. Attendees are encouraged to attend sessions focused on these areas, recognizing that technical prowess alone is not enough for success.

  • Create Value and Drive Change: The audience is prompted to think about how they can apply what they've learned to create more value and drive change within their organizations. This reflects a broader aim of not just acquiring knowledge but also implementing it effectively.

  • Embrace the Role of Enterprise Architects as Change Agents: The forum discussions suggest that enterprise architects should see themselves as key players in guiding their organizations through technological transformations, recommending a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.

  • Utilize the Community for Support and Learning: The idea of the forum acting as a start of a learning cohort, where attendees can continue to engage, share, and learn from each other even after the event, suggests a recommendation to leverage the community for ongoing support and development.

  • Prioritize Inclusivity and Open Sharing: Attendees are encouraged to create an inclusive environment where open, transparent sharing is valued. This approach is recommended to foster a learning community where diverse thoughts and experiences are welcomed.

  • Engage with Content and Speakers Online: For those unable to attend in person, the recommendation is to engage with the event’s content and speakers online, indicating the importance of accessing available resources and participating remotely to benefit from the forum.

Nice work Paul and Shaun, giving back to the Architect community is awesome, and focusing on the next generation can only benefit the client base.
