As of SAP enhancement package 6 for SAP ERP 6.0 (EA-HRGXX 606), the business function HCM, Performance Management (Flexible) 01 is available. You can use this business function to optimize flexibly structured appraisal processes in your enterprise by using essential functional improvements to the appraisal template. This allows you to create and edit the appraisal documents based on this template more efficiently as well as improve the entire appraisal process. For example, you can use blocks to structure the layout (column or row layout) more effectively and avoid unnecessary empty spaces. The business function comprises the following functions:

Appraisal Template

Sliders

You can decide to use the Slider display element in the template, which means that selectable values in the appraisal document (for example, an overall appraisal on a scale of 1 to 6) are shown as a sliding bar graphic. The color of the slider changes depending on the value selected so users can immediately understand the displayed values.

Web Application for the User Interface for the Appraisal Template

You can use the following layout configurations for the appraisal template and make them available in the appraisal document:

o Row layout

The columns of the appraisal element are instead displayed one on top of the other as rows.

You can also use the following in row layout:

- Collapsible Appraisal Elements

- Always Show Final Appraisal and Weighting

- Expanded

- New Block

o Column layout

The columns of the appraisal element are displayed horizontally.

You can also use the following in column layout:

- New Block

Note

You can either use row layout or column layout.

Appraisal Document

Additional Functions in the Appraisal Document

The following functions are also available to you in the appraisal document:

o Row layout

- Enlarge note fields to display more text

o Column layout

- Expland and collapse note fields

- Enlarge note fields to display more text

No Customizing settings are required here.

Dynamic Structure of the User Interface for the Appraisal Document

You can make custom modifications to the document's user interface more quickly and easily because the technical structure for the document's user interface is made dynamically in the code.

Appraisal Process

Calibration Process in Performance Management and Talent Management

Note

If you want to use these functions, you must activate the business function HCM, Core Processes in Talent Management 03 (New) (HCM_TMC_CI_3), which is mentioned under "Integration".

You can set up a cross-functional calibration process for assessing employees and use the integration between the flexible appraisal process and Talent Management. The appraisal documents are available to managers and talent management specialists in the flexible appraisal process and in Talent Management. Managers can prepare and edit the documents for the relevant employees, thus evaluating the employees' performance. Afterwards, managers set the status of the document to In Talent Review Meeting, which sends the appraisals to the talent review meeting . Documents with the status In Talent Review Meeting are locked so that managers cannot edit them anymore. In the talent review meeting, performance assessments and potential assessments from multiple managers are calibrated. The results of the talent review meeting are transferred back to the employees' documents and are available to managers in subsequent steps of the appraisal process.

You can use this cross-functional calibration process as an alternative to the application Calibration of Appraisal Documents in Business Server Page technology (BSP).

Transport

Transport template and dependent configuration data

You can transport all of the related objects and their related data to another system (such as a live system or client) for an appraisal template (object type VA) or appraisal process ((flexible appraisal process or predefined Performance Management process); (process element object type VH)).
