SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS1 provides several enhancements for EPPM solution areas. Details can also be found in What’s new Viewer or in the EPPM roadmap view. This blog provides an overview about the enhancements for the individual solution areas.
Project System
Lean Services refers to a simplified process in operational procurement to manage the purchase of planned and unplanned external services. With the current feature package, you can plan lean services for components that are assigned to network activities, similar to the planning of external non-stock materials (see image below). With this, lean services can be used as an alternative to using service activities in the Project System. Details on the integration scenario are described in this blog.
The Fiori Apps Project Cost Overview (F6991) and Project Cost Line Items (F6992) have been enhanced with the new filter Order Type. This filter enables users to select and filter data based on the order types of the corresponding orders that are to be displayed in the apps, e.g to include values coming from networks and exclude cost from plant maintenance orders. The image below shows the selection of the Order Type as an additional filter in the Project Cost Line Items app.
Joint venture accounting fields have been added in the CDS view and UI of the Fiori app WBS Element Overview app. When joint venture accounting is active, the relevant fields can be added to the Fiori app as displayed in the image below.
The Project Network OData API has been enhanced by capabilities to create, update and delete Project Network Activity Milestones and Material Components. The Material components entity comprises components for materials as well as for lean services assigned to project network activities.
Portfolio and Project Management
With SAP S/4HANA 2023 release the import of periodic financial planning values stored in ACDOCP from Projects or WBS elements linked to a portfolio item was enabled. With SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS1 this capability has been enhanced by support of hierarchy processing for Projects and WBS elements. In addition, the import of periodic financial planning values of orders that are directly linked to a portfolio item is supported. An overview about the enhancements to the financial integration of portfolio management during the recent releases is available in this blog.
In the area of Project Management a new OData API to read the Development Project (i.e. the PPM Project) is available. The API covers read functionality for the master data and status information of the project header and the project structure elements, i.e. Phases, Tasks, Checklists, Checklist Items. Resource management related information such as responsibilities for project elements, project role data and staffings can also be retrieved via the API. The Development Project API requires the usage of Simplified Authorization Management for Project Management, which is active by default in SAP S/4HANA. The simplified authorization management for Project Management has been enhanced by support of super user assignment leveraging the authorization object ACO_SUPER.
Commercial Project Management
With the SAP S/4HANA 2023 FPS1 you can adjust the report template in Commercial Project Management depending on the target recipient of the Status and Trend report as shown in Figure 4. Details on how to setup the functionality are described in this blog .
Also the Forecasting capabilities in Commercial Project Management have been enhanced by the feature to automatically adjust the in-period forecast, for both monthly and fiscal breakdown as well as period-end forecast adjustment for fiscal breakdown.
