Hello world!👋 In this blog post I will give an overview and insights about the current state of the SAP Sustainability Control Tower and its possibilities you can leverage to have an auditable, real-time sustainability steering and reporting solution.

Introducing the SAP Sustainability Control Tower

In light of the growing significance of sustainability in the corporate world, businesses and organizations are actively seeking advanced tools and approaches to effectively oversee their sustainability endeavors.

The SAP Sustainability Control Tower is a software-as-a-service solution engineered to assist businesses in monitoring and overseeing their sustainability performance. It empowers organizations to monitor, evaluate, and enhance their sustainability initiatives, encompassing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics.

This solution aids customers in transitioning from periodic sustainability reporting to a continuous and comprehensive approach.

It offers real-time insights into the sustainability performance of an organization's operations, suppliers, and products. Data can be seamlessly retrieved from both SAP and non-SAP systems, streamlining data collection and minimizing manual entry – all within a unified and reliable data source.

Equipped with pre-established content aligned with prominent sustainability standards such as GRI, WEF, TCFD, CSRD, the EU Taxonomy, and more, customers can establish a sturdy and auditable ESG reporting framework.

Beyond reporting, the solution empowers sustainability management, facilitating the improvement of an organization's own sustainability performance through well-informed decision-making. This allows users to set specific sustainability objectives, track progress, and implement corrective measures to ensure compliance with regulatory mandates and meet stakeholder expectations.

Now to the practical part: Manage ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Data application within SCT. If you've been utilizing the CPE (Calculation and Processing Engine) for uploading actual data for your metrics, this blog post will be immensely beneficial in understanding how this process can be accomplished through measures in the Fiori application.

The application facilitates the following functions:

  1. Importing new data from a file into an existing measure.

  2. Rectifying or updating data for an existing measure.

  3. Importing actuals data from SAP S/4HANA Cloud for financial or economic measures. For example, consider the measure "Amount."

  4. Downloading templates: These templates enable the downloading of DPI (data provider interface) files in the .csv file format, allowing customers to use and refer to sample data

What all steps do I need to perform in SCT ?

  1. User can Download TEMPLATES ( Sample data as well ) for viewing the structure of the measure.

  2. Select the MEASURE for which you want to upload data.

  3. IMPORT DATA as per your measure.

  4. VALIDATE the uploaded data.

  5. If the data has errors, detailed errors can be seen in ERROR LOG screen.

  6. After successful validation, user can PUBLISH the data
