BOM allocation

Hi All,

Please tell me best way of extending all the BOMs from an existing plant to a new plant.

Manual creation of all the bill of materials is not feasible.

One way is to use a conversion tool like catt or lsmw.

But I found out about tranx.CS07allocating bill of material to plant.

My concern is how does the system reacts (MRP,prodn orders etc)if the material is allocated to plant using this transaction.

Is this equivalent to creating a BOM manually.

Any suggestions please.

Thanks,

ASA

Hi asa

BOM is above plant level. As you said you can create BOM without plant initially and you can extend it to number of plants as and when required. by T code CS 07. This will not affect any performance.

In addition we can use CS08 to modify (delete) a BOM assignment to the already existing Plant.

Hi Saravanan,

Thanks for yor answer. The BOM has 12 components under it.

It is already in a plant.Since we are creating a new plant we will extend this using CS07 to the new plant.I am just clarifying my question. Please confirm.

Regards,

Asa.

CS07 will not create a new internal BOM number, instead just use the existing BOM number.

CS01 will create a new BOM number.
